February 18, 2013 Colors Sound System – Sementes Ardentes [LMNKV 83]

Some truly colorful production from Colors Sound System, these sounds are being transmitted out of Brazil. Off the top of my head, I do not know of any dance music producers from Brazil that have impressed me, these cats definitely do. This one is pressed on a heavyweight vinyl and is on the catalog of a truly well rounded label, check out Lovemonk for everything from rock to disco. Side not, I think that is how a label should be, diverse!

December 19, 2012 Volta Cab – Don’t Give Up (Trus’me’s Gotta Be Strong Mix)

Been on repeat since hearing this just a few days ago. This is the kind of energy I love in a modern day house tune. This particular track comes from Ukranian producer Volta Cab, with UK’s Trus’me on remix duty. Out on Illusion Recordings now.

December 17, 2012 Ejeca – Krunk EP [WO 002 ]

High gloss krunk and emotionally charged diva loops in full swing on on Ejeca’s latest EP on new vinyl label W&O Street Tracks. The winners on this one are definitely the first track “Night Rays” and Waze & Odyssey’s remix of “Riddim.”

November 15, 2012 Overlast – Alive [RHVD 8]
Fresh off of Rush Hour, some truly peculiar, out of your head, grunge space beats featuring the vocals of strange European women talking about drinking jet fuel. Yes, sometimes it is OK to feel a bit psychotic, and this is just the tune to make me want to close my eyes become a highly refined version of petroleum and be propelled through the combustion chamber of a jet engine. The winner here is definitely he A track “Alive,” B track isn’t doing it for me.

October 12, 2012 Shock – Heaven

Something different for the Habituate blog but welcome all the same. Shock is a San Francisco based electronic band comprised of singer Terri Lowenthal and Dan Judd. Terri’s voice is absolutely seductive and is reminiscent, at times, to Crazy P’s vocalist Danielle Moore. The original mix is definitely the winner here, the song gets things rolling fast with acid style synths, melodic guitar riffs, and Terri’s vocals. It is instantly catchy without the campyness of most pop structured music. They have a full length LP expected in Spring and the Heaven Single is out October 23rd. Can’t wait to hear more! Pre-order here.
